MarcoRichter.net - Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Tycoon

Written by Neil Galloway

I have a found a new blog called MarcoRichter.net - Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Tycoon that I have started to read on a regular basis. He has good ideas and even though his is posting information I have already read, they are refreshing and organized in a very good manner.

The layout of his site is very slick and he does not have the 2 million different widgets that clutter up a lot people's blogs. If you want a lesson in design, check out his site.

What I Like About MarcoRichter.net's Interface

In his sidebar you will find only the following things:

  • Search box
  • RSS and Email signup links
  • Featured Articles with only 5 entries in it
  • Categories - and there is only 5, which is nice.
  • Archives
  • Some ranking widget

It is very simple looking and each entry in there actually catches your eye because it isn't a huge mess.

At the bottom of the page he has Recent Posts, Recent Comments, and Top Commentators For The Week. The top commentators listing provides a list of individuals putting in the most comments recently and provides a link back to their site. A bit of an incentive to be on that list. Good idea.

Good Articles

His site has a lot of very good articles on what you can do to you site to improve rankings and traffic. Here are a list of my favourite articles.

  • Increase Blog Traffic

This is an excellent post. It has a 25 item list which he turns into a link and writes an article for that item. Has done 7 of them so far and they keep coming. Check it out. His best article thus far.

  • 10 Ways To Improve Your Blogs SEO In 5 Minutes Or Less

Excellent overall summary on what you can do to help your blog achieve more search engine results. It links to a number of other articles he has written, which in turn link out to some other bloggers.

  • Viral Recommendation Carousel

A list that never gets any bigger by revolving through a list of blogs bloggers read. I like this method because it provides a link back to someone without growing into the massive lists in the other chain articles. Plus, you can only pick one blog to add to the list.
