Opportunities in the Futures and Forex

Written by Neil Galloway

The typical investor turns to mutual funds and the stocks. There are more opportunities out there for the sophisticated investor. A few years ago I started to look at futures and the foreign exchange.

If you don't know what they are, futures are buying and selling contracts for quantities of raw goods. Oil, grains, fruits, and other materials or animals. The foreign exchange is trading currencies and profiting in the increase or decrease of their value against other currencies.

There are three big pluses for me.

  1. You can make money when the commodity's value decreases.

Selling short or buying long are two method you can use if you are expecting an increase or decrease in market value for something.

  2. It gives you the power of leverage.

Your money has more leverage, meaning you stand to make a larger profit or loss than if you were to buy the commodity outright.

  3. It exposes you to different market.

Note: There is risk of loss trading Futures, options and forex. These markets do expose the investor to a greater amount of risk and potential profit. A two-edged sword depending on which way it swings.

This is a PayPerPost article for Global Futures Exchange & Trading Company. This means I was paid for this posting. They can get you trading for $250. Being involved in global futures and the foreign exchange can add a bit more excitement to your investment activity if you are looking for it.
