Upgrading Your Computer Memory
I am a little bit biased when it comes to upgrading my computer. I always favor a computer memory upgrade.
I like to run a lot of applications, watch video, do photo editing, and some video editing. There is nothing that can kill a computer's performance more than hard drive swapping. This is when the computer cannot store all the information it needs in temporary memory (RAM) and then uses the hard drive to do so. The time it takes to access the hard drive is many magnitudes slower than the computer's memory.
Whenever I purchase a new computer, I have purchased it with double the amount of RAM typically installed in new machines. Four and a half years ago, my computer came with 512MB of RAM. 3 years later I upgraded it to 1 GB. Right now, a lot of computers sell with 1 GB to 2 GB. I would do a minimum of 2 GB and look at putting in 4 GB instead on a new machine.
I personally think it saves on the hard drive wear and keeps your computer running smooth when you have a half dozen applications up and running.
This is a PayU2Blog posting for MemoryStore.com. I checked out their site and they have a lot of tools for a computer memory upgrade.
What RAM Do You Need?
MemoryStore.com has some neat features when I went through their site. There is even a downloadable program that detects your computer's hardware and memory specifications. It recommends a variety of products that are guaranteed to be 100% compatible with your harware configuration. One click and it takes you to that product's page with pricing (which was pretty reasonable actually). I didn't think shopping for a memory upgrade could be that simple.
